From time to time, you may require the assistance of Federal, State or Local authorities. These authorities provide a wide range of services and benefits to individuals and families. The SDA can assist you by giving you direction to the appropriate department or organisation.
SDA MEMBERS: You can call the SDA Info Centre on 131 732 to speak to an Information Officer.
You can also search the following Federal and State government sites:
A full list of Federal, departments and organizations can be found in the Australian Government directory
The NSW Government directory lists can be found in the NSW Government Directory A to Z
THE ACT Government Directory listing can be found in the ACT Government Directory
Most SDA members who receive employer contributions for superannuation are members of the Retail Employees Superannuation Trust (REST), which currently has over one million members.
REST has been rated as the occupational superannuation fund with the lowest fees – and all the earnings and profits made by the fund go back to members’ accounts. REST also offers cheap, effective insurance to its members in the event of death or total or permanent disablement (TPD), and income protection in the case of temporary disablement.
SDA MEMBERS: If you have an account with REST, the Union can provide you with assistance regarding contributions made by your employer. The Union cannot, however, give you advice about your personal superannuation needs or account information. For that you should contact REST directly.
For more information about superannuation or about REST, talk to your Organiser or contact the SDA Info Centre.
Alternatively, you can contact REST directly:

The SDA and ITP – the Income Tax Professionals – can save you money on the preparation of your tax return.
SDA MEMBERS: You and your family are entitled to a 10% discount on the standard price of the preparation of a tax return when it is completed by an ITP tax accountant at a participating branch. Members and their families are also entitled to a special rebate on business tax returns. When you lodge your business or company return, they will subtract 20% from the amount you paid your accountant last year.
As with Union fees, tax return preparation fees are 100% tax deductible.
You must present your current SDA membership card to receive the discount www.itp.com.au
