Each year, the SDA offers ten $1,200 payments to members who are undergraduate university students, and six $600 payments to members who are TAFE students. Each payment is received in two halves, one for each semester, and is to be used for educational costs.

Each year, the SDA offers by ballot 1,800 textbook vouchers to members or members’ children who are attending secondary or technical schools, universities and colleges.
Vouchers for tertiary students have a value of $100, and those for secondary students are valued at $80. SDA members can apply online by following the link here or fill in the application form in the SDA News.

SDA members in Sydney and the Illawarra area receive a 10% discount on more than 350 courses at WEA. WEA offers short courses of private interest to workers, rather than courses that are intended to qualify them for alternative employment. Subjects offered cover diverse areas of interest including: art, philosophy, history, literature, languages, computers/IT, music and business.
SDA MEMBERS: You can enrol by using the application form in the WEA catalogue (available online or on request by phoning the numbers shown below). Just enter your SDA membership number into the appropriate field in order to receive the concession rate.
